I’m also happy to give a talk and demo for your organization. What is at the heart of my teaching is a true enjoyment of leading others into artistic expression and inspiring creative freedom. I truly think we’re all meant to create. I find that in my workshops, students inspire each other, and I learn from my students, too.

Intro to Copperplate Calligraphy

If you have been itching to get an immersive start to calligraphy, this is your class! Students will be given a brief history of Copperplate script, an overview of tools and materials, and instruction on how to use them. After learning some basic strokes using a traditional steel nib and oblique pen holder, students will delve into learning the letters, both lowercase and upper. Students will leave class with detailed exemplars and guide sheets for practice at home as well as all the supplies provided. No calligraphy experience (or good handwriting!) is needed, though advanced or intermediate students will also benefit from guidance by an experienced instructor. Supplies (and treats from a local bakery!) are included in the cost of tuition.

This class is designed to get you started on your journey into Copperplate Calligraphy. Students will learn about the tools and materials required for this skill and the basics of how to use them well. After learning some basic strokes, students will practice selected lowercase letters with the guidance of the instructor. Uppercase and lowercase exemplars will be provided for at-home study. Supplies are included in the cost.
